MARUNAKA: SMOOTH IN SPITE OF KNOTS AND RESIN

The super planers of Marunaka are suitable for all types of wood, whether it involves tropical hardwood or resinous pine full of knots. These do not hamper the super planer, nor does planing against the grain. The Marunaka can be adjusted in a way that it can plane in either direction through the machine.

MARUNAKA: MOISTURE HAS NO EFFECT ON THE ROUGHNESS

One difference between sanded wood and wood treated with the Marunaka becomes clear from contact with moisture or water: the linear planed surfaces do not roughen. This feature is also convenient for wood used for the construction of musical instruments, because it has a good effect on the acoustic properties of the wooden parts.

SUPER SMOOTH INTO MICROSCOPIC DETAILS

Researchers of the Technical University of Dresden (Germany) have been studying the cell structure of finished wood using an electron microscope. Have a look at the following pictures of finished pine wood:
